I'm TODO_ARTIST_NAME, a permanent makeup artist based in San Rafael. After years of watching clients arrive every morning to draw on the same brows and the same liner, I trained in PMU to give them their time — and their confidence — back.

My approach is intentionally subtle. I'd rather a healed result that makes a friend ask if you've been on vacation than one that announces itself across the room. Every appointment starts with mapping — measuring symmetry, studying your bone structure, and matching pigment to your undertone — because the right design on paper is the result you'll love a year later.

A few quick answers. The full FAQ has more detail on healing, longevity, and what makes you a good (or not-quite) candidate.

Most clients describe the sensation as mild scratching or pressure, not pain. We apply topical numbing before we begin and reapply throughout the session, so the bulk of the appointment is comfortable.

Brows last 12 – 18 months before a refresh. Lip blush lasts 18 – 24 months. Eyeliner can hold 2 – 5 years depending on style and skin type. PMU is technically semi-permanent — color softens gradually rather than disappearing all at once.

Skip caffeine, alcohol, fish oil, and ibuprofen for 24 hours before — they thin the blood and increase swelling. Arrive with clean skin (no makeup on the area being treated). Eat a real meal beforehand. Most appointments run two to three hours.

Yes — every brow, lip, and liner service includes one perfecting touch-up at 6 – 8 weeks. This is when we refine shape, deepen color where needed, and make sure your healed result is exactly right. Annual refresh appointments are billed separately.
