What to Expect

Your first visit, step by step.

Most clients arrive a little nervous and leave with brows they're already used to. Here's how an appointment runs from start to finish.

    Consultation

    We talk through what you're hoping for, look at any references you've brought, and walk through your medical history together to make sure permanent makeup is right for you. No pressure to book if it isn't.

  2. 2

    Mapping

    I measure your symmetry, study your bone structure, and draw the shape onto your skin with a non-permanent pencil. We refine until it's right. Nothing tattooed until you say yes.

  3. 3

    The Work

    Topical numbing, then careful pigment work — typically 1.5 to 3 hours depending on the service. Most clients describe the sensation as mild scratching, not pain.

  4. 4

    Touch-up at 6 – 8 weeks

    You return for a complimentary perfecting session once the first appointment has fully healed. This is where we refine the shape, deepen color where it's faded, and lock in your healed result.

I'm Kim Pham, founder of Brows California. With over fifteen years in the beauty industry, I specialize in permanent makeup — nano and microblade brows, lip blush, eyeliner tattoo, and lash extensions — for clients who want a refined, natural-looking result.

Each appointment begins with a thorough consultation. I map shape, study symmetry, and select pigments calibrated to your undertone, because the design we agree on is the result you'll wear for the next year. My technique is precise and deliberate, refined over years of hands-on practice and continuing education in advanced pigment work.

Most clients describe the sensation as mild scratching or pressure, not pain. We apply topical numbing before we begin and reapply throughout the session, so the bulk of the appointment is comfortable.

Brows last 12 – 18 months before a refresh. Lip blush lasts 18 – 24 months. Eyeliner can hold 2 – 5 years depending on style and skin type. PMU is technically semi-permanent — color softens gradually rather than disappearing all at once.

Skip caffeine, alcohol, fish oil, and ibuprofen for 24 hours before — they thin the blood and increase swelling. Arrive with clean skin (no makeup on the area being treated). Eat a real meal beforehand. Most appointments run two to three hours.

Yes — every brow, lip, and liner service includes one perfecting touch-up at 6 – 8 weeks. This is when we refine shape, deepen color where needed, and make sure your healed result is exactly right. Annual refresh appointments are billed separately.
