Your questions, answered.
Everything we get asked most often — pain, healing, longevity, pricing, prep, and who's a good candidate. If you don't see your question here, message us and we'll add it.
Most clients describe the sensation as mild scratching or light pressure — not pain. We apply topical numbing before we begin, then re-apply throughout the session as needed. The first 5 – 10 minutes can feel sharp before numbing fully sets in; after that, the bulk of the appointment is comfortable. Lips are typically the most sensitive of the four services; brows the least.
Brows last 12 – 18 months before a refresh.
Lip blush lasts 18 – 24 months.
Eyeliner lasts 2 – 5 years depending on style and skin type — fine, oily, and sun-exposed skin fades faster.
PMU is technically semi-permanent — color softens gradually over time rather than disappearing all at once.
Starting prices: brows from $TODO, lip blush from $TODO, eyeliner from $TODO, lash extensions from $TODO. The complimentary perfecting touch-up at 6 – 8 weeks is included with every brow, lip, and liner service. Annual refresh appointments are billed separately at a returning-client rate.
Yes. Every brow, lip, and liner service includes one perfecting touch-up at 6 – 8 weeks. This is when we refine shape, deepen color where needed, and make sure the healed result is exactly right. Touch-ups beyond the included one — or annual refreshes — are billed at a separate returning-client rate.
Most healthy adults are. PMU is not recommended if you are:
- Pregnant or breastfeeding
- Currently using Accutane (Isotretinoin) or have used it within the past 12 months
- Undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
- Diabetic and uncontrolled, or have a compromised immune system
- Prone to keloid scarring
- Have a skin condition (eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis) actively flaring on the area
- Under 18
If you've had Botox, fillers, microneedling, chemical peels, or laser in the area being treated, we ask that you space those at least 4 weeks before or after your PMU appointment.
For 24 – 48 hours before your appointment:
- Skip caffeine and alcohol — both thin the blood and increase swelling
- Avoid blood thinners: ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo
- Don't tan, get a chemical peel, or do strong exfoliation in the area
Day of: arrive with clean skin (no makeup on the area being treated), eat a real meal beforehand, and bring a snack and water. Plan for 2 – 3 hours.
Microblading uses a manual hand-tool with a row of fine blades to draw individual hair strokes. Best for normal-to-dry skin types and clients who want a defined, hair-like look.
Nano brows use a single ultra-fine needle on a digital machine to create the same hair-stroke effect with greater control over depth. Better for oily skin, sensitive skin, and clients with prior PMU work, because pigment retention is more consistent.
We'll recommend the right technique for your skin during your consultation.
Yes — and this is normal. Day one looks 30 – 50% bolder and slightly darker than your healed result. Color softens significantly during the first week, appears to fade during the flaking phase (days 4 – 10), then re-emerges in its true settled tone by week 4. Don't judge the color until your touch-up appointment.
Sometimes — it depends on the depth, color, and density of the existing work. Old PMU that has faded to a soft warm tone is often workable. Heavy, dark, or distorted prior work may need correction or laser removal first. Send photos in your booking inquiry and we'll let you know honestly whether we can take it on or recommend you consult on removal first.
A non-refundable booking deposit is required to hold your appointment. We ask for at least 48 hours' notice to reschedule — your deposit transfers to the new date. No-shows or cancellations within 48 hours forfeit the deposit. Two missed appointments and we'll ask you to find a different artist.
Brows: 2 – 3 hours. Lip blush: 2 – 2.5 hours. Eyeliner: 1.5 – 2 hours. Lashes: 1.5 – 2.5 hours depending on set type. The first 30 – 45 minutes of brow, lip, and liner appointments is mapping and design — measuring symmetry, drawing the shape, and getting your approval before any tattooing begins.
For brow, lip, and liner appointments, we ask that you come solo — the studio is small and design works best with focus. Lash appointments are quieter and a friend in the waiting area is fine. If you have anxiety around the appointment, please let us know in advance and we'll plan accordingly.
Single-use sterile needles and blades, opened in front of you at every appointment. Pigments are professional-grade, California-compliant, and selected for the technique we're doing — iron-oxide-based for brows, FDA-acceptable cosmetic-grade pigments for lips and liner. Topical numbing agents are CDC-approved for cosmetic tattoo use. The studio meets California Body Art Program sanitation standards: bloodborne pathogens trained, autoclave-sterilized reusable tools, and surfaces disinfected between every client.
